Viva Las Vegas

Viva Las Vegas

Although my days and evenings were pretty much taken up with Arbonne GTC, my hubby and I did manage a little time to visit a couple of the phenomenal hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.

I loved these 2 windows in Caesars Palace. Shopping heaven I have to say. From High Street to High End. You certainly need a little extra cash.

Ted Baker. The male ‘dummy’ in this picture had amazing rotational hip movement.

We had such a great day in 100 degree temperatures, ending up having lunch at Planet Hollywood in Gordon Ramsey’s BurGR bar. The best BurGR in town.

Our fantastic trip was nearing the end. Hubby surprised me with dinner at the MGM Grand at the selective French restaurant of Joel Robuchon. 3 Michelin stars, fine dining in opulent surroundings. Champagne chilling. My palette tingling at the thought of a food experience I would never forget.

Add a Little Sparkle to Your LBD with Baubles, Bangles & Beads

Add a Little Sparkle to Your LBD with Baubles Bangles & Beads

You don’t have to spend a fortune on a little black dress. Every woman should have at least 1 LBD in their wardrobe. Go check out the sales if you don’t buy anything else this year, a little black dress is an essential wardrobe item.

Add a little sparkle to your LBD not just for New Years Eve ladies, but for all occasions.

This LBD I picked up last year in the Ann Taylor – LOFT sale for $25. Note the little piece of lace across the shoulders.

Serious bling here. This necklace was from Debenhams UK. The dress comes alive and seriously doesn’t need anything else. I adore this – it’s almost like a mayor’s chain!

Dress a LBD up or dress it down. Above necklace from zara (recent)

Gold necklace from Mikey (old)

These are some other personal pieces from my jewelry box.

My Grandmas Glass bead necklace, note the clasp – although I think there are a couple of pieces missing, I doesn’t matter.

The Winter Sales Have Started.

The Winter Sales Have Started.

A perfect time to hit the shops & stores. Why? because the sales have begun in earnest. That special dress or winter coat, those sky scraper heels or knee-high boots that you have had your eye on, but unable to afford. The winter sales could change all that and put those lust after pieces within your grasp.

Diesel, Zara, Madewell, Club Monaco, JCrew, Aldo…………….and so much more including the department stores. Bargains around every corner, just in time for New Years Eve. Discounts, reductions, closeouts, buy one get and second purchase at half price. Too much temptation?

Party dresses in abundance, metallics, embellishments, sequined or feathers. Time to glam up ladies and gentlemen.

What are you waiting for?

I don’t know about you but I am taking my christmas monies off to the sales. Will let you know what bargains I snaffle later!

Shopping in London – What Was in the Selfridges Bag?

Shopping in London – What Was in the Selfridges Bag?

During our whirlwind visit to the UK – and believe me it was pretty hectic. I just had to get in a little retail therapy.

It just wouldn’t be the same going back to the US without a trip to M & S for some everyday undies now would it?

However, first a rainy day on Oxford Street. I was looking for some boots, but honestly did not know whether I wanted, knee high, calf or ankle length. What I did know was that I was looking for something low heeled or flat even. I was also on the prowl for a pair of flats, my black patent ballerinas from Mode in Pelle on South Molton Street had certainly seen better days.

After a consultation with my personal stylist, aka my daughter Jemma, we came to the same conclusion that the best choice would be ankle boots.

As per usual Oxford Street was heaving. We made our way to Selfridges and the shoe/boot department. There were shoes and boots strewn everywhere, the displays were being decimated by frantic shoppers.

I spied a couple of pairs of boots that may have passed the criteria test, but nothing that really shouted out to me come and buy me!

So next stop the Topshop concession in Selfridges. Immediately I felt an attraction to a couple of pairs but one in particular. Did they have my size?

ALSO –  Pull on metal toe boots £80 with a 10% discount £72

Now these aren’t my normal style, but……for day to day running round – just perfect. A kind of quasi western style meets Chelsea boot, soft tan suede and polished black leather and metal toe. Shop www.topshop.com

An absolute bargain. What do you think?

On to Zara where I snapped up a pair of wax-coated denim jeans in bottle green £35.99

Blouse with studded shoulder in Ecru and Blue £29.99. I chose a subtle dusky pink/fawn colour. Zara

If only the rain would stop I could have been in the mood to shop a little more!

As for the flats – Selfridges didn’t have my size, I tried on a size smaller but it was like cinderella’s ugly sisters squeezing their foot into a glass slipper - Obviously It was not meant to be.

But hey what do I see online here in the USA?

Carvela/Kurt Geiger ‘Hearty’ metallic flat £39 or $60. www.kurtgeiger.com/brands/carvela

So cute……wear with a pair of wax-coated pants/ jeans or a pair of classic trousers.

Should I add to my shopping basket?

Cosy up: Sweaters to give you a glow

Cosy up: Sweaters to give you a glow

Whether, your sweater preference is chunky knit, cable, fine knit, patterned, fair isle or pastel. You maybe a cashmere lady, or even an avid knitter!

Be creative, be comfortable, wear your sweater/jumper with style. There are no rules where sweaters are concerned.

We saw the SS13 catwalk rocking the knitwear scene recently. So this autumn/winter invest in some über exciting knitwear.

Here are some ideas.

American Apparel Unisex Oversized Fishermens Turtle Neck Sweater $135 – courtesy of Who,What Wear daily.

Peter Jensen Fox Intarsia Crew Neck Pure Wool Sweater $290.24 - ASOS

Sweater With Leather Look Collar $56.29 – ASOS

Colour Block Sweater $66.24 – ASOS

Faux Leather Sweater with Fabric Sleeve $59 Zara

Twist Knit Peplum Sweater $79 Zara

Such versatility, wear with skinny jeans as above, jeggings, any length skirts, shorts, over a shirt, dress or vest. Layer, rock it underneath a biker jacket, get the preppy look with a smart blazer.  Use your imagination!

So much choice. I will be out and about over the next few days, looking for a couple of cosy sweaters!

Oh! and don’t forget accessories – hats, scarves, gloves and mittens!

Do you have a favourite style of sweater? How do you wear your sweaters?
