Bargain Shopping at TJ Maxx

Today, I decided to pop into TJ Maxx as I havent been in the store for a while. Plus, my gym trousers were looking a little jaded and faded, so I was on the lookout for a new pair.

While I was in the store I thought I may as well take the opportunity to browse around. Now I am normally not a TJ Maxx clothing shopper. The reason being is that fashion and styles in our local store leave a lot to be desired in my opinion.

However, today I spied a couple of items – No, I am not completely “eating my words”

Animal print cardigan by Willie Smith – original price $50 reduced to $15

Wool blend mustard skirt with exposed back zip from Dalia Collection orignal price $40 – TJ Maxx price $19.99

Worn with a black silk sleeveless top also with exposed zip from topshop (old)

Perfect with the cardigan as a jacket.

 Wear with a sleeveless jumper – White House Black Market (old) or even a black long-sleeved tee.

As we are meeting up with friends on friday evening for a ‘pub crawl/drinks/food/dinner,’ not a formal dressing for dinner occasion, I was undecided what to wear, but not anymore.

Black tights with  boots, bootees or shoes. My next dilemma.

Oh, did I manage to find gym trousers? Yes I did $12.99. A very good day for bargain hunting at TJ Maxx.

Shopping in London – What Was in the Selfridges Bag?

During our whirlwind visit to the UK – and believe me it was pretty hectic. I just had to get in a little retail therapy.

It just wouldn’t be the same going back to the US without a trip to M & S for some everyday undies now would it?

However, first a rainy day on Oxford Street. I was looking for some boots, but honestly did not know whether I wanted, knee high, calf or ankle length. What I did know was that I was looking for something low heeled or flat even. I was also on the prowl for a pair of flats, my black patent ballerinas from Mode in Pelle on South Molton Street had certainly seen better days.

After a consultation with my personal stylist, aka my daughter Jemma, we came to the same conclusion that the best choice would be ankle boots.

As per usual Oxford Street was heaving. We made our way to Selfridges and the shoe/boot department. There were shoes and boots strewn everywhere, the displays were being decimated by frantic shoppers.

I spied a couple of pairs of boots that may have passed the criteria test, but nothing that really shouted out to me come and buy me!

So next stop the Topshop concession in Selfridges. Immediately I felt an attraction to a couple of pairs but one in particular. Did they have my size?

Now these aren’t my normal style, but……for day to day running round – just perfect. A kind of quasi western style meets Chelsea boot, soft tan suede and polished black leather and metal toe. Shop www.topshop.com

On to Zara where I snapped up a pair of wax-coated denim jeans in bottle green £35.99

Blouse with studded shoulder in Ecru and Blue £29.99. I chose a subtle dusky pink/fawn colour. Zara

If only the rain would stop I could have been in the mood to shop a little more!

As for the flats – Selfridges didn’t have my size, I tried on a size smaller but it was like cinderella’s ugly sisters squeezing their foot into a glass slipper - Obviously It was not meant to be.

But hey what do I see online here in the USA?

Topshop Autumn 2012 collection is to be offered online and also at select Nordstrom stores starting September 10, 2012. 

Topshop is part of the Arcadia Group, which is wholly owned by Sir Philip Green and owns a number of other retail outlets including: Burton,  Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge in the UK.

You may remember in 2007, Kate Moss and Topshop began an exciting and exclusive new collaboration. Inspired by Kate’s wardrobe and designed to capture the models’ unique sense of style, Kate Moss for Topshop was one of the most hotly anticipated high street collaborations. When Kate’s first collection launched, she appeared among her designs, stopping traffic as she was revealed in the window of our Oxford Circus flagship to a baying crowd of 1000s.

I have to admit that I miss the UK High Street stores, now we have more choice online this are getting better by the minute. But I still miss trying on clothes in store. Do you prefer to shop in store or online?

How to Wear the ‘Camouflage Trend’ this fall

The military and camouflage trends are back in vogue for this fall season. The styles extend a little more than just a pair or two of cargo pants or fatigues - yes, we have all had a pair, havent we?

To avoid looking like you are ready for a fashion war!

  1. Keep it simple, choose 1 main camouflage (camo) piece, whether it be a jacket, skirt, pants, dress.
  2. Tone the outfit down a little by wearing something to compliment the ‘camouflage look’ such as a plain tee-shirt or top.
  3. accessorize with a cuff, or just a hint of bling is fine.

On A Day Like Today: A Perfect Day To Wear A Maxi Dress

It was an errand running day that did not start off too well. I had an early meeting with my Arbonne sponsor plus a potential client – the latter did not show. Hey ho, we had some business to talk through over a skinny latte, the sun was shining……..

I had taken some earings for cleaning and new screw backs to be fitted to the jewelers. As they had been there for a few weeks, I thought it was about time that I picked them up. Unfortunately or fortunately as you may look at it, the jewelers was in the middle of the Arbor Mall in Douglasville Georgia.

Of course I could not resist the urge to have a look around. As I am on a shopping famine until the end of never. I had to resist the urge to splurge! Was this going to be a challenge too far?

I headed for Forever 21.  Bessie at Bravoe Runway blog always seems to snaffle a good few bargains from this store. As yet I have only bought a couple of things from Forever 21. Not to be discouraged despite a no budget – budget I ventured inside, purely for blogging purposes of course.

All was looking well, until I found a cuff that caught my eye at $8.

Then, look what beckoned me:

It was a  very hot day!

Now you know why I don’t like my picture taken. I had so many compliments about the dress, but I don’t do it justice on this photo.
