And The Oscar For Best Dressed Goes to……

The nominees are:

Angelina with her now statement red lips, wears a beautiful strapless, thigh splitting, velvet gown by Versace Atelier. Not forgetting her arm candy, of course Mr Brad Pitt.

Cameron Diaz wears an elegant gown by Gucci Premiere.   Emma Stone, pretty in fuschia pink by Giambattista Valli

Simply stunning Gwyneth Paltrow. Tom Ford elegance, Sylph like, asymmetric gown with an adorning cape.

Jessica Chastain in an amazing gown by Alexander Mc Queen, The regal embroidery is so exquisite and no doubt hand-stitched.

Michelle Williams, wearing the colour of the moment in Louis Vuitton with diamond accessories.

Octavia Spencer: Winner of Best Supporting Actress, she was so humanely humble receiving her Oscar, wearing Tadashi Shoji

Penelope Cruz (recently given birth!) wearing a blue organza, off the shoulder fitted custom gown by Georgio Armani.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Couture mermaid style secretly revealing a lace inlay.

Strutting the Red Carpet; Tina Fey, wearing a midnight blue strapless Carolina Herrera gown with of course the ultimate fashion piece – “The Peplum.”

Sandra Bullock, in a beautiful ensemble by Marchesa, complete with gold embroidery and slightly revealing cowl back. And by no means last because I have left out so many. Viola Davis revealing her true self without her usual hairstyle, in a beautiful Marchesa strapless flowing emerald-green gown.

The Oscars go to……..Oh this is so difficult:

1.Gwyneth Paltrow .

2. Tina Fay

3. Michelle Williams

4. Angelina Jolie

5. Jessica Chastain

6. Rooney Mara

Or maybe not in that order! Ok I keep changing my mind……..

Oh and just in case you missed it….

Best actor: Jean DuJardin – The Artist

Best Actress: Meryl Streep; The Iron Lady…..yeah!!…… Would have loved Rooney Mara to have received an award too.

The Great & The Good: The Best & The Worst of The SAG Awards

The 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

As I sit reflecting on the last 2 hours after watchng th SAG awards. I am really disappointed. One tweeter renamed the awards ‘Saggy Awards.” I am forced to agree.

I was indeed pleased that ‘The Help’ came away with: Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture, Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role – Viola Davis.

Wearing a stunning strapless gown by Marchesa & Jimmy Choos

Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role – Octavia Spencer.

Octavia dressed to impress in a flattering design by Tadashi Shogi

Also: Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Television Movie Or Miniseries -Kate Winslet for Mildred Pierce. I was completely hooked on this miniseries.

Kate Winslet as Mildred Pierce curtesy of ‘The Guardian’ UK

Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Drama Series- Steve Buscemi in ‘Boardwalk Empirte’. I remember him in Armageddon and The Supranos.

Let us get back to The Best & The Worst of the night

Here are some of the best….

In a taffeta and tulle Midnight Blue gown by Zac Posen

As her alter ego as Albert Nobbs

Emily Blunt elegant in an emerald green Oscar De La Renta Gown. This look is perfect for her pale complexion and chestnut locks. She doesn’t need much else. Minimal Jewelery and a simple clutch.

Rose Bryne rocked the red carpet in this jumpsuit by Elle Saab from her 2009 collection. Certainly different to anyone else and definitely a red carpet winner.

Emma Stone dressed from head to toe in Alexander Mc Queen. Her tea length black full skirted strapless dress with lace bodice was teamed with clutch and high ankle strapped girlie shoes.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jollie. She looked so demur in this backless gown by Jenny Packham.

There were a few mistakes. Here is just a taste.

Kaley Cuoco arrived looking like a peppermint poodle! This creation is attributted to Romona Kerveza.

Lea Michelle in Versace, split from floor to…… well I hope she had waxed! Maybe this gown came with built in underwear?

I have the utmost admiration for Meyrl Streep, but this gown by Zac Posen did not do her natural beauty any justice at all. However, it was an improvement from her Golden Globe crumpled look! Please someone, style Meryl using a colour that doesn’t make her look ghostlike.

This was certainly a star studded event but if you were expecting pzazz, or the familiar Hollywood Glitz and Glamour, then the awards in my opinion were boring! I couldn’t wait for the programme to be over quite frankly.

We still have The Oscars to look forward to……….
