Topshop Autumn 2012 collection is to be offered online and also at select Nordstrom stores starting September 10, 2012.

Topshop is part of the Arcadia Group, which is wholly owned by Sir Philip Green and owns a number of other retail outlets including: BurtonDorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge in the UK.

You may remember in 2007, Kate Moss and Topshop began an exciting and exclusive new collaboration. Inspired by Kate’s wardrobe and designed to capture the models’ unique sense of style, Kate Moss for Topshop was one of the most hotly anticipated high street collaborations. When Kate’s first collection launched, she appeared among her designs, stopping traffic as she was revealed in the window of our Oxford Circus flagship to a baying crowd of 1000s.

The London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony

The London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony

I am sure that I am one of the many this morning that has re-lived  ”The London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony”.

Turning on the TV this morning wasn’t quite the same, no more highlights of the previous day. No more anxious moments watching the athletes competing for their respective countries, no more medal ceremonies. I have been glued to the TV for the entire Olympics.

Last night Facebook, twitter and other social media sites were on fire with the news of what was happening at The London 2012 Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.

As with the Olympic opening ceremony, the closing ceremony had a theme.

Part 1: Lets get the party started.

First setting the scene with London Rush-hour, hustle bustle of everyday London. . Bicycles, London cabs with a cargo of Spice.

The Spice Girls,” zig-a-zig-ah! Ok come on cut me a little slack here. The Spice girls all arriving separately in no less than Rhinestone covered Taxi Cabs!

As they were then

And now

Part 2: An eclectic Rock Circus of Events

From rock to pop, from Del Boy & Rodney as Batman and Robin (Only Fools & Horses) to nuns flying round on skates. From Blurs Parklife to Madness and Our House. Music mania swept London: Jessie J, Annie Lennox, The Kaiser Chiefs, Brian May, George Michael, One Direction, Take That and so many more artists performed at the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony.

Eric Idle – Monty Pythons “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”

Willy Wonka has got nothng on Russell Brand!

Take That

Part 3: The Superheroes, The Athletes

Arm in arm, flags of nations billowing in the evening breeze, singing, dancing, walking, cameras flashing while Elbows One Day Like This played out in the background.

Part 4: All the World is a Stage

Whether it is Shakespeare or Dickens, poetry or music.

And then came the Supermodels! Arriving in camouflaged lorries with their pictures on the outside to David Bowie’s song Fashion.

It was Gold all the way. Kate Moss leading the pack in a Alexander McQueen ensemble by Sarah Burton. On her heels Naomi Campbell also wearing Gold McQueen with a tulle train. Lily Cole wearing Erdem, Lily Donaldson in an off the should number by Vivienne Westwood, Georgia May Jagger in skater style dress by Victoria Beckham, Karen Elson wore a thigh splitting gown by Burberry, Stella Tennant dazzled in a Christopher Kane chain mail creation, while Jourdan Dunn wore white and gold by Jonathan Saunders topped off with a rather unique headdress by Stephen Jones. It was Supermodel mania!

And last but not least.

Handing the Olympic baton over to Rio for the next Olympic Games in 2016, and already its a Carnival in Rio. The final extinguishing of the Olympic flame marked the end of London 2012 and the most amazing games I have witnessed.

The London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony was exhilarating, spectacular, empowering, tear jerking and heart swelling. The Pride of Britain.

What do I wake up to now?

Thank goodness for BBC America and Graham Norton to get me going in a morning  with a few laughs!

What were your best moments of the London 2012 Olympics?

Who rocked your boat at the London 2012 Closing Ceremony?

The Rock Chic Look

I was inspired by a lady I met in Lennox Mall the other day. We were both trying on shoes. What else?  Her look was ‘Stylish Rock Chic’.

The epitomy of  ‘Rock Chic’ style has to be Kate Moss. Her Bridget Bardot look has inspired not only many a designer, but the catwalk and the front cover of prestigious magazines such as Vogue. Her look has never aged.

How can you achieve this look?

And Then I Got To Thinking…..

And then I got to Thinking -Who am I?

No these are not menopausal rantings, before you swtich off, I still can recite my name, address and telephone numbers.

So what prompted this philosophical outburst?

I was clearing out my closets, including my shoes (once a linen closet). As a result, I have 1 huge bag for charity and 1 bag for the thrift store. Both of which need to go pretty quickly before I change my mind and start retrieving items that end up back in the closet. Does this sound familiar?

And so I got to thinking. What is my style? Is style synonymous with fashion?

My style has been dictated over the last forever years by my profession as a nurse and then a midwife in the UK. For years I wore a uniform or scrubs. Working shift patterns and on call dictated that if not in uniform or days off, I was probably in pyjamas.

The last few years of my career, I moved more into a management role, so NO uniform required. My wardrobe changed completely to accommodate classic suits, skirts, tops, cardigans, dresses, paired with heels, boots and ballerina flats. I had my own fashion show!

The move across the pond brought about another wardrobe or closet change. A’ hands on approach’ to house renovation projects requires suitable apparel. By that I mean, torn or paint spattered jeans, tee shirts that have been covered in dust, bleach, grime, loft/wall insulation,  and whatever else you may discover in the attic or crawl space!

I have still clothes in my closet from the UK – In my opinion European fashion is so much more chique and therefore, would be more my style. Although, I have made a few purchases over here, for example my  INC frnged jacket.

Adrianna Pappell and London Times dresses, but, the majority of my clothes were bought in the UK. The compliments I had received on my attire are generally attached to English/European clothes I wear. However, some of my favouite outfits are nearing the end. So I am now looking at my wardrobe/closet and thinking…..

Do I have a Definitive Style? or is it a case of ‘Different Styles for Different Occassions?’ Is there such a term as ‘Age Appropriate’ or ‘Mutton Dressed as Lamb?” (as my grandmother used to say).

Who do you think has ‘style?’

The Duchess of Cambridge

Supermoel Kate Moss

Is style a way of expressing yourself? Do you dress a certain way to make a statement?

Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” Coco Chanel

That takes me back to…Anyway I got to thinking….

What is your take on style? Do you have a specific style?

Alexa Chung: 24 hr Catwalk

Alexa certainly seems to be everwhere at the moment.  Whether, photographed wearing Marc Jacobs, Carven, YSL, Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane or Proenza-Schouler, the list is endless. Just in case we forget she is also “The Ambassadress for Chanel” no less, which means she get the best picks to wear as well as a front row seat at fashion week. Are we not just a teeny weeny bit jealous?

Her style she states is her own. Believing that it is important to be true to yourself and advises not to follow the crowd.

Recently she won the British Style Award for the second year running (voted by the public), beating the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge and Kate Moss.

Her latest venture is a new TV show which debuts in the US on January 10th entitled; 24hr Catwalk.

http://youtu.be/io8gpXceC9g

The show features four designers who battle to create a collection in 24 hours. She explained a little about her new venture on last nights ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Show’.

Wearing a metallic silver, doily-like Marc Jacobs coat as a dress, black tights and Marc Jacobs Silver Heels she looked stunning once again.

My worry is that 24 hr Catwalk is competing with with the next series of Project Runway.

The reviews for 24hr catwalk are not completely favourable, but we will see next week!

What are your thoughts about Alexa Chung and her fashion style?

What would be your favourite Alexa outfit?
