A Perfect Day For A Summer Wedding

A Perfect Day For A Summer Wedding

Hubby and I were invited by our neighbours to their wedding here in Georgia at the weekend. Not matter where you live in the world the weather can make or ruin this special day, particularly if you have planned an outdoor wedding. Is it a woman thing why we women love a wedding? Romance, Love, that Cinderella moment, the dress, the vows.

Tissues at the ready, waterproof mascara and a pair of sunglasses are essential handbag items.

The venue chosen for the wedding was The Conservatory at Waterstone Ackworth Georgia.

The Conservatory’s interior is a unique mix of modern loft and rustic french country, with exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and two levels of seating giving this building the perfect ambiance for a wedding or special celebration.

DSC01441I loved the atmosphere of the venue chosen, so much character, although I did have fears about slipping on the wooden stairs in my heels (we were seated upstairs). But all went well, no embarrassing moments.

DSC01442The ceremony was to take place outdoors, a perfect sunny day.

Out and About – Streetstyle

Out and About – Streetstyle

Heading for a little retail therapy before meeting my friend for a spot of light lunch, a small glass of wine and general chatter. As I was walking through the mall, I spied these lovely ladies who gallantly agreed to have their photographs taken for my blog.

This lady’s name was Marsha whom I met in Bloomingdales. She was simply and perfectly coordinated, looking so elegant, striding out with confidence. I loved the way she tied her hair in a fabulous scarf.

This lady was a sales advisor for Nars cosmetics. Her name Caphale came from both her parents christian names – truly unique and a beautiful lady. Once again ‘hair-dressing’ seems to be the ‘In’ look of the day.

Hira I spotted literally running through the mall, but she kindly stopped for me to take her picture. Casual in jeans, tee and Doc Martens but look at the hat, so cool. I feel there is a theme going on here!

Last but not least I spotted two ladies who were a little camera shy at first. They were looking for Louis Vuitton.

Arlene and Ann, demonstrating their penchant for animal prints, complimenting each others style.

Off they went in search of Louis Vuitton.

She Sells Sea Shells – Are You Ready For The Beach?

Hubby and I plan a welcome break shortly with our friends from the UK, with a visit to Sarasota next month. Time to hit the mall for a couple of holiday essentials.

Seriously, after all the house renovations recently I am ready for a little retail therapy! A visit to Vidal Sassoon’s and lunch with my lovely friend Chrissie.

First the sandals – come on its at least 3 months since I treated my feet!

What was I  looking for? A low heeled neutral sandal with a little pizzazz plus a pair of snazzy flip-flop style sandals.

Did I find what I was looking for?

Alfani Genesis Sandal $69

Yes I did with this Genesis wedge sandal by Alfani from Macy’s. I fell head over heels with this strappy rhinestone sandal & zippered back.

Also, I couldn’t resist a pair of  lovely beachy flip-flops.

Flip Flops by Sperry $50

In terms of beachwear. Bloomingdale’s had so much choice

Bloomindales Beachwear

Oh and I couldn’t resist this top from Zara.

The skirt is my own from Jigsaw (UK)

She sells sea shells on the sea-shore and I cant wait to hit the beach!

Have you started shopping for your summer holiday?

What would you plum for this summer in terms of beachwear?

Summer-Time for Seersucker

Summer-Time for Seersucker

A little background.

The word came into English from Hindustani Urdu and Hindi, which originates from the Persian words “shir o shekar”, meaning “milk and sugar”.

During the British colonial period seersucker was a popular material in Britain’s warm weather colonies. When first introduced into the US it was the mainstay of the summer wardrobe of gentlemen, especially in the South, who favoured the light fabric in the high heat and humidity of the summer. Nowadays, seersucker fabric is part of the summer wardrobe for men and women alike, even into the bedroom……..by that I mean bed linen!

To look cool this summer invest in seersucker pieces. Here are some summer seersucker suggestions.

Calvin Klein mix and match summer suit.

Calvin Klein Blazer at Macy's - sale $83.99

Calvin Klein Seersucker Pants Macy's sale $57.99

Calvin Klein Pencil Skirt $51.99

Lily Pulitzer Buttercup shorts $74 - Bloomingdale's

Cream rust button seersucker shorts $17.80 - Forever 21

Seersucker striped blazer Banana Republic -$130

Seersucker Blazer $98 - Loft

Charming Summer Dress by Jessica Simpson $98 - Nordstrom

Beautiful, back view with bow-tie.

Tory Burch Janette silk seersucker frill dress sale $385 - Nordstrom

And so to the bedroom……… No this is not part of the trilogy, 50 Shades Of Grey. I may review that later.

Lauren by Ralph Lauren. Spring Hill bedding $329 - Bloomingdale's

Pure indulgence, can you see yourself sleeping in seersucker?
