Day 1 of London Fashion Week AW 12

To say that I am excited about the beginning of London Fashion Week is an understatement.

Obviously, my heart belongs to British fashion. I really believe that there is nowhere like it. Whether it be, streetstyle, new and established designers or passionate followers of fashion. There are no limits on style.

The British Fashion Council announced today the appointment of Alexa Chung as British Fashion Council’s Young Style Ambassador.

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, comments “We’re delighted to announce this role for Alexa. She is hugely influential in both the fashion industry and to the wider public, who have voted her as winner of the British Style Award at the British Fashion Awards for two years running.”

Alexa Chung comments “I always name London first when asked which city in the world has the best style. There’s something so inherently rebellious about how people naturally style themselves. Brits aren’t afraid to experiment or take risks with how they look, perhaps that’s why London has always been home to the most dynamic and daring designers in the world. I adore fashion and am proud that it’s now officially my job to champion those London designers both new and established that inspire me so much.”

These are some of todays fashion highlights.

Antoni & Alison

Graphic & Grafitti prints, with an illusion of knitwear, buttons, bows and floaty dresses.

Bora Aksu

Pretty in lace, refined and chic, peter pan collars, the palest of corals and greys to the bright sunglow oranges, mixed with multi-patterned tights, chunky boots & bolero jackets. This is just a taste!

Caroline Charles

Embroided jackets, velvet and Tartan!

Corrie Nielsen

More Tartan, sheers, full skirts, ruffles a definite Scottish theme.

Are there commonalities developing already?.

If this is the beginning I cant wait to see more.

Alexa Chung: 24 hr Catwalk

Alexa certainly seems to be everwhere at the moment.  Whether, photographed wearing Marc Jacobs, Carven, YSL, Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Kane or Proenza-Schouler, the list is endless. Just in case we forget she is also “The Ambassadress for Chanel” no less, which means she get the best picks to wear as well as a front row seat at fashion week. Are we not just a teeny weeny bit jealous?

Her style she states is her own. Believing that it is important to be true to yourself and advises not to follow the crowd.

Recently she won the British Style Award for the second year running (voted by the public), beating the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge and Kate Moss.

Her latest venture is a new TV show which debuts in the US on January 10th entitled; 24hr Catwalk.

The show features four designers who battle to create a collection in 24 hours. She explained a little about her new venture on last nights ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Show’.

Wearing a metallic silver, doily-like Marc Jacobs coat as a dress, black tights and Marc Jacobs Silver Heels she looked stunning once again.

My worry is that 24 hr Catwalk is competing with with the next series of Project Runway.

The reviews for 24hr catwalk are not completely favourable, but we will see next week!

Less Is More. Effortlessly Chique.

The Christmas Festivities are behind us for another year, as we take down our decorations, do we reflect a little on 2011? Or are you now embracing the grand entrance of 2012? As the saying goes “Out with the old, in with the new”

After all the bling, sequins and sparkle of the last couple of months. (Who doesn’t like getting dressed up in something extra special?)

It’s time for ……”Effortlessly Chique” or “Less is more”

What do I mean? Well, its kind of a transition from “All that Jazz” to ….Best described in pictures.

Take a look these lovely English Roses, who I think have the perfect balance.

The Duchess of Cambridge

Heading to a football match with her brother-in-law Prince Harry. Kate was dressed for the weather stylishly in a roll neck HoneyComb jumper by Temperley London, teamed with a chocolate brown fur-lined coat and jeans. She sported a fedora to keep warm adding Le Chameau Wellington boots to complete the country casuals look.

Alexa Chung

Earlier this year Alexa Chung styled up one of designer’s Stella McCartney LDDs (little denim dresses) for an easy look. She paired her denim sheath with moss-hued Chloé snakeskin pumps and a boxy satchel

Kate Moss

Kate Sports her own denim look at Mulberry SS2012

Victoria Beckham

This beautifully designed above the knee peach dress with short sleeves, flat necklines and double side pockets is simply stunning. Of course she is famous for wearing her sky scraper heels, these nude pumps by Louboutin are perfect.

Although all these ladies look as though they have just thrown together their outfits for the day. You can be sure that isnt so.

Effortlessly chique is the style achieved, BUT behind the scenes – lots of thought and effort to achieve the look!

Victoria Beckham – Recognition at the British Fashion Awards

The tears flowed as ‘Posh’ previously of Spice Girl fame,  won the designer brand prize at the British Fashion Awards 2011.”

Beating off such competition as Stella McCartney, Burberry and Tom Ford in the Designer Brand Of The Year category.

It was hard for her to keep her emotions under cover during her speech. “I am overwhelmed. I was really trying to keep it together in the speech without bursting out crying.”

As the song goes  ”Fool to Cry“ - Rolling Stones. Enjoy the moment you have earned the reward!

Devoted wife of David Beckham as well as mother of four, recently pictured in Hello magazine with her stunningly beautifully baby daughter Harper, deserved the fashion world’s recognition. She certainly has made a great job of reinventing herself.

She thanked her hubby: “Without David I wouldn’t have had the courage to do what I’m doing.”

Victoria looked very svelte, in a long flowing black gown from her own collection.

Other celebrities present included Alexa Chung and Kate Moss amongst others:

It was certainly a ‘Girl Power’ night at the Fashion Oscars as Sarah Burton, Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney swept the board.
