LFW, And Now For Something Completely Different. Meadham Kirchhoff

You could be forgiven for thinking that you had landed in the wrong century. Inspired by……..Marie Antoinette, the french revolution maybe? Milk-maids, bows, stockings, hair rags, Mary Poppins embroided hats, bloomers, opulent & exquisite bodices. Imagination running rampant. And literally a no budget budget!

Is this the new Galliano or maybe Alexander McQueen. Edward Meadham & Benjamin Kirchhoff, literally blew the crowd away with their inventiveness. Local boys made good? From rags to riches?

I think we will be seeing so much more of this pair of genius designers!

London Fashion Week SS13. Highlights of Yesterdays Collections

London Fashion Week SS13. Highlights of Yesterdays Collections

It seems that London is literally on fire. This year being the Queen’s jubilee year, then there was Wimbledon, plus the undeniable success of the Olympic games and now London Fashion Week.

London in my mind is the epicentre of the fashion industry. So, many uniquely talented designers who are not afraid to experiment with designs, fabrics, textures, colour and patterns.

These are a couple of the highlights from yesterdays collection. Two amazing women with a totally different styles.

Temperley, LondonAlice Temperley as we all know is a favourite of Kate Duchess of Cambridge.

She stated that her ideal client would be: “A sexy, strong, well-travelled and confident woman. She knows her own identity but yet is comfortable enough to experiment with different styles and shapes.”

Temperley’s mix of delicate prints, sheers, incorporated into both daytime and sophisticated evening wear.

The return of the dirndl skirt!

In Contrast: Vivienne Westwoodknown for her sometimes outrageous punk style. I love this 50′s inspired collection.

London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013; RTW. Sass & Bide

London Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013; RTW. Sass & Bide

One of my personal favourite designers are Sarah Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton of Sass & Bide fame. Natives of Australia, they founded the Sass & Bide label in the 1990′s after selling customized jeans in London’s Portobello market. Their Australian is label has been worn by the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna and Beyoncé.

They have certainly come a long way since then. Inspired and influenced greatly by their global travels, most recently visiting Peru and Buenos Aires.

This collection has a black and white theme with the addition of gold, silver and an effervescence of sequins and glamour. A balancing act between Masculine & Feminine “An exploration of the genders,” explained Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton

Visit  Sass & Bide to see more of their 2013 Spring & Summer Collections and view their website.
